CBD for arthritis

Le CBD pour soulager l’arthrite, CBD Studios

CBD for arthritis

CBD is used to ease and help many health conditions, including insomnia, anxiety and depression, nausea and chronic pain.

While studies and medical trials are still in their infancy, the anecdotal health claims of the  benefits are promising.

The pain caused by arthritis is reported as debilitating and exhausting. Traditional medication for arthritis includes a mix of different options, yet long-term use is not really healthy or recommended due to its adverse side effects.

Alternatives like lifestyle changes and the use physio techniques are becoming favoured and recognised to help ease the pain the condition causes.

Natural medicines including CBD are popular as another option.

CBD has become as a natural supplement.

It is most widely used as an oral tincture (CBD drops) where it is absorbed into the bloodstream and is received by CBD receptors of the Endocannabinoid system.

The Endocannabinoid system regulates many of the different systems we have to control our natural functions, like Sleep, Anxiety, Pain, and Skin health.

There is research to suggest that by using CBD as a supplement it will support and balance these functions to maintain overall wellness, this is homeostasis.

CBD seems to block specific receptors that influence inflammation and pain within the body.

This affects the way receptors respond to signals that they receive, reducing both inflammation and pain

Studies

A trial for the CBD medication Sativex was conducted with rheumatoid arthritis patients. The medication was a topical spray and the effectiveness was tested over a 5 week trial.

The results found that inflammation and pain was reduced and also noted that quality of sleep improved.

Research is still to come but the early results and anecdotal evidence is promising.

Chronic pain

Painkillers are widely used to manage the chronic pain caused by arthritis suffers. This is so people can bear the tasks of daily life or continue exercise and sleep comfortably. However, the side effects of ibuprofen or similar medications are damaging to long-term health.

CBD oil and balm are both popular choices for many patients.

CBD Oil is used as drops under the tongue and then absorbed into the blood stream where it regulates inflammatory pain.

CBD balm is used topically on the skin when it can target the area that needs relieving.

CBD Studios customers have found it helps make daily activities more bearable and provides relief at night when it can be hard to sleep or get comfortable with arthritis pain.

Our study also noted that it reduced pain perception and at the same time also improved mood.

Meet Andrea Mason, sea to summit athlete

Andrea Mason, sea to summit extreme

Meet Andrea Mason, sea to summit athlete.

She’s an athlete, an outdoor enthusiast and it just so happens she is swimming 3 Lakes, biking 800km and running 3 Peaks!!!!

The route is from Lake Bala in Wales, to the top of Ben Nevis in Scotland.

The route is from Lake Bala in Wales, to the top of Ben Nevis in Scotland.

Andrea Mason, Sea to summit extreme, cbd studios

This is her 4th major challenge on the theme Sea to Summit.

In 2019 Andrea’s first challenge involved:
Swimming 34km across the English Channel, Cycling 900km across France and then climbing Mt Blanc.
All in just 4 days and 20 hours.

Exactly one year later, she successfully completed the Mt Blanc Triple Crown, which involved:
Swimming 38Km around the perimeter of Lac Annecy.
Cycling the gruelling Tour Du Mont Blanc and running 170km around one of the toughest trail runs in the world, the Ultra Trail Du Mont Blanc.
All in just 4 days, 23 hours and 40 mins.

Last year she took the challenge to South Africa, where she took on:
35 km swim across False Bay from Millers Point to Rooiels.
Cycling 360 km from Rooiels to the base of Seweweeks Port Peak.
With an epic finish Hiking/Climbing to the top of Seweweeks Port Peak (2335m)
All in just under 48 hours.

Andrea’s challenges and tireless efforts are to promote awareness surrounding female reproductive health with her charity « Lady Talk Matters » which she founded in 2020.

A subject she has been familiar with from an early age, having suffered with persistent gynaecological problems including endometriosis. Researchers think that at least 11% of women suffer with this condition.

Endometriosis happens when tissue similar to the lining on the inside of your uterus or womb grows outside of your uterus or womb where it doesn’t belong. Endometriosis growths may swell and bleed in the same way the lining inside of your uterus does every month — during your menstrual period. This can cause swelling and pain because the tissue grows and bleeds in an area where it cannot easily get out of your body.

Andrea had a hysterectomy at 35 after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.

With this, it became Andrea’s mission to raise awareness around womens health, to encourage open discussions, educational material, sanitary materials and support network for women and girls experiencing reproductive issues.

Working in South Africa she has founded a centre in Kayamandi, in Stellenbosch, where affordable reusable sanitary pads are ethically produced for girls and women in the local community.

Lady talk matters, cbd studios

The centre employs women who have been taught to make the products. Andrea emphasises “the importance of using quality raw materials to ensure that the products are not only long-lasting, but also safe to use, even in under resourced settings.”
These re-usable sanitary pads made with a leak-proof PUL backing layer, a microfibre core and a comfortable bamboo charcoal layer against the skin. Washable and reusable, perfect alternative to disposable and single use pads.

Lady Talk Matters’ re-usable sanitary pad packs are available for purchase, which supports the manufacture of packs to be distributed to women or girls unable to afford them.
Lady Talk Matters tirelessly works and campaigns in an effort to encourage everyone to talk openly about female reproductive matters and to create change for the situation of period poverty.

10 % donation to Lady Talk Matters

To show our support for Andreas incredible athleticism as well as appreciation for her phenomenal work around womens health we will pledge 10% of all sales from CBD Studios to the charity from now until the end of July.

“The CBD balm has been a game changer for me, both during training, recovery and during my challenges. I find it almost instantly relaxes my legs and help them to recover quicker.

It also helps that the smell and texture are amazing. It doesnt leave your body feeling greasy and you don’t smell like you been dipped in olive oil. All in all, I wouldnt use anything else. » Andrea

Stress, anxiety, relief…why i started using CBD…

CBD pour calme, CBD Studios

CBD for stress…the calming effects of CBD

CBD Studios founder, formerly a personal trainer I have always lead an active lifestyle. I am no stranger to the daily stresses that can impact our mental health and wellbeing. After trying CBD I found the results beyond beneficial by its calming effect, which made life easier when things got overwhelming.

I noticed the positive effects it was having physically too. Notably the backache from previous sports injuries was diminishing and knee pain was massively reduced when running. With this, CBD Studios Chamonix was created to offer products for body and mind. CBD Studios have created natural CBD wellbeing products to meet this need, complementing daily active life.

I have continued using CBD ever since, as I undeniably feel relief and notice its naturally therapeutic calming effects.

It has evidently been a difficult two years, with Covid 19 and being a solo parent with two children aged four and five.

CBD for calm since the Covid pandemic

Since the outbreak of Covid19 I have been witness to and been faced with many difficult and stressful situations.

Over the last year we have been confronted with confinement, home schooling, compromised family situations, change in work, health implications….the list goes on. With the stress that all this may incur, it is advantageous to at least try and maintain a sense of calm. Which by no means is easy and we often feel the need to explode!

Whilst it may be helpful to take some deep breaths or check we taking enough exercise when we are feeling anxious,  it is also becoming more and more favourable to also supplement with CBD oil.

Why is CBD effective for stress?

Our body has natural cannabinoids (CBD), which work to keep the body in balance by regulating the systems that control stress and anxiety, such as serotonin  (happy hormone), and cortisol  (stress hormone). When faced with the situations of last year these systems may have become exhausted. By using CBD as a supplement it provides a natural boost to keep these systems balanced helping you calm an anxious mind promoting a better sleep.

All our CBD products are made with organic CBD, products and extracts. They help with sleep, calm, skincare, and provide relief,

The website is easy to navigate and choose the right CBD products you need. We are open for click and collect, free delivery the same day in Chamonix and provide free postage in France.

CBD oil

An easy way to take CBD as a supplement is CBD oil drops, consuming a few drops of oil under your tongue. Drop your dose under the tougue morning or night or as you feel the need.
It is quickly absorbed into the blood stream via the capillaries under the tounge.

If you feel stress taking over and need to manage it better…CBD oil will do just that. This CBD oil formula allows you to maintain a balance of life, allowing you to better cope with the stresses of everyday life. These oils have no trace of THC, so are not harmful to your concentration or can alter your sensations. There is no taste, so a perfect solution for people sensitive to other earthy flavors of this type.

So this is what you get from a CBD massage…. By Alison Shayler

So this is what you get from a CBD massage….

CBD extract recovery balm

By Alison Shayler

I’ve used CBD treatments (balms, oils, tea, etc) previously and always enjoyed the results but this was to be the first time that I would experience the luxury of having someone else apply them while I just relaxed. I was about to have my first CBD massage, carried out by Kristy Shelley at her practice Fascia Flex in Chamonix.

Kristy started by asking if I had any particular aches or pains that I wanted to address. As a runner I’m always more than happy for someone to work on my legs, even without having any injuries there’s almost always a tight muscle or achy joint that could use a bit of love. I also suffer from the glamorous affliction of bunions, which can be extremely stiff and painful when they flare up. With this in mind, Kristy started at my feet and worked her way up my legs, tracking where the bunion pain might be related to any other issues with knees and hips.

The product that she used was the Recovery Balm – one that I already use at home as an all-purpose lip balm, dry skin fixer, after-sun, topical ointment, and general cure-all – so I’m already a fan! Recovery Balm is made from CBD infused coconut butter, shea butter, vegan beeswax, and apricot oil with a gentle scent from camphor and lavender essential oils. All natural, plant-based ingredients that will protect and nourish your skin while the CBD gets to work on your senses.

The Recovery Balm was a pleasant change to the usual massage oils, it felt quite rich and thick when it first went on, then warmed to my skin very quickly and melted to a light smooth consistency. It glides well without feeling greasy and it made my usually dry skin feel wonderfully soft. Kristy advised that CBD is an excellent anti-inflammatory, so is ideal to use on bunions and other swellings. The herbal scent of the balm was soothing and felt very nurturing, both physically and mentally.

As this was more of a therapy massage than a relaxation massage there were moments when Kristy’s touch was less than gentle! She got deep into my muscles and manipulated my limbs to release tension and stress. Rather than flinching and gasping as I normally would though, the calming effect of the CBD allowed me to breathe slowly and relax into it, allowing her to go deeper than I would normally be able to tolerate.

As a reward for being slightly less of a wimp than usual, Kristy finished off with a lovely neck-and-shoulder massage which better demonstrated the relaxing properties of the CBD balm. I can only imagine that a full body massage would be a pretty heavenly experience.

I went straight home after my treatment and had a quiet evening, not wanting to disrupt the lovely zen feeling that the balm had given me. Eager to prolong the experience, I made myself a nice pot of CBD tea with mint and camomile before going to bed. As someone who also struggles with insomnia, I am particularly appreciative of a good night’s sleep and I awoke the next morning feeling bright and refreshed. I was half expecting my feet to feel a bit tender after having been so thoroughly manipulated the day before but they felt great, not only that but my leg muscles felt supple and ready to run! I would certainly use CBD balm again, in fact I took a tin home with me, and combining it with a massage is a wonderful way to enjoy its benefits.

Delivery is always free and aim for the same day in Chamonix.

CBD and biking

CBD and cycling

Cycling has increased in popularity over the years as an environmentally friendly form of transport, as a hobby and a sporting activity. The increase in cycle paths for roads and off road bike tracks has made riding more accessible and great fun.

Biking is a great form of exercise as it improves cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength and flexibility. The exercise in itself is also a remedy for stress relief and all the benefits of fresh air and the outdoors.

By looking after your physical and mental health you are more likely to reach your exercise potential or fitness goals.

Research on CBD is still in the early stages, however some of what is being discovered is showing promising to help your body to prepare and recover.

The significant and important noted benefits of CBD include, relaxation, improving sleep quality, and anti-inflammation providing relief from muscle discomfort.

CBD for cycling

CBD is one of many components found naturally in the hemp plant.

It is also produced naturally in the human body. CBD helps the body’s endocannabinoid system, which controls the internal balance of natural chemicals notably associated with pain, fatigue, stress, and anxiety.

This is called homeostasis, a term used to describe the process of maintaining the internal balance in an ever-changing external environment.

There is research to suggest that by using CBD as a supplement it can support these functions to maintain balance and overall wellness.

There are many reports that CBD effectively relieves aching muscle and tired joints before and after exercise.

Its soothing anti-inflammatory virtues are highly appreciated by athletes, including cyclists.

Cyclist Teal Stetson-Lee chooses CBD instead of ibuprofen to relieve muscle discomfort from exercising.

How can CBD be used as a cyclist?

Reduces muscle soreness after biking

When you are pushing yourself during a hard ride or competition you will tear the muscle tissue which then creates inflammation. The body will naturally start to repair and build up the damaged tissue, to result stronger muscle tissue.

However when you push too far, the inflammation and pain can be too much for the body to deal with. This is when you may want to use painkillers or anti-inflammatories.

CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory that can be used after biking for relief of cramps and aching joints so to promote recovery.  Unlike other pharmaceutical drug products, CBD has few side effects and there is no risk of overdose.

Accelerates the recovery of cyclists

CBD is often used after exercise for muscle recovery but it is most widely recognised for its relaxing effects. Relaxing the body’s circulatory system and overworked muscles after exercise will encourage the body to focus on repair. With this power, CBD can therefore reduce recovery time after exercise, training sessions or races.

Promotes sleep

All athletes know that sleep and rest is essential. It is really important to sleep well to be in good shape the next day and recover well.  When the body is tired, performance is compromised as well as the risk of injury being greater.

Evidence is continuing to show that CBD can calm an active mind to help with sleep.

Helps to treat anxiety

CBD oil may help your physical performance and daily life, by helping you regulate anxiety and stress. Exercise is a remedy for stress itself, but if you need a more of a boost, CBD may help promote the calming of mind and body.

The nerves before competitions may be alleviated by CBD oil as it is an effective natural supplement to treat anxiety .

Choosing CBD for cycling

For tired over worked muscles we recommend CBD recovery balm. Its anti-inflammatory properties will help calm aches and discomfort after exercise. It can be applied to knees, shoulders or wherever you need relief.

In addition CBD oil is suitable as an all round wellbeing supplement to boost your body’s natural systems associated with discomfort, fatigue, stress, and anxiety.

If you are ready to try CBD balm or CBD oil or both it could be your next steps towards a more relaxed comfortable body and mind.

How CBD benefits your skin

CBD skin care: Alleviating ACNE, DRY SKIN AND AGEING WITH CBD PRODUCTS

CBD is a Cannabinoid found in hemp. It is a natural compound that is known for healing properties. CBD can relieve inflammation and have anti oxidant benefits. This means it can be beneficial for dry skin, spots and aging (free radical damage.)

Cannabinoids are produced naturally in the body and stimulate 2 receptors, CB1 and CB2. They are part of the Endocannabinoid system (ECS). The biological processes of the skin are affected by the ECS. It will be affecting processes like cell production, growth and death, hormone production and cell communication. This is responsible for homeostasis in the body.

If this homeostasis is disturbed and out of balance, it may result in various issues related to skin care and skin health:

Acne

Often a cause of acne is the over production of sebum. This is the oil that is released by the skin to keep hair moisturized and skin protected.

By activating CB2 receptors it would lead to the reduction and balance of sebum production.

When skin gets painful and red due to acne, CBD is able to soothe this dull ache or throbbing sensation. The cells in the skin contain CB1 and CB2 receptors; these receptors are stimulated by CBD and communicate with the nervous system to reduce the inflammation.

Dry skin

Dry skin is often a problem and can lead to dermatitis or itchiness. It can be caused by climate, heat, soaps, illness, accidents and allergy. In normal skin, sebum is produced to protect the skin and to prevent moisture loss. By stimulating CB2 receptors in the sebaceous glands you will increase sebum production if needed.

This is when using a topical CBD balm or ointment could help. When using CBD balm, the cannabinoid supplement works with the endocannabinoid system in the skin striving to create the correct balance.

Anti aging

The signs of ageing can be caused by exposure to toxins outside the body, such as chemical pollutants and UV rays. When cells are damaged by external factors, they become agitated and create free radicals. The affected cell will try to stabilize itself by taking an electron from another cell. This is called oxidation. This cellular stress and damage means that your skin is weakened. This can cause a loss of collagen and firmness, causing wrinkles and fine lines. If skin is exposed to external factors causing inflammation, free radical formation and oxidative stress will be evident. This will lead to these age-related issues/ appearances.

So there are anti-oxidants…. Antioxidants are found in our body and skin and their job is to find free radicals and neutralize them before they do any damage. CBD has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The ECS is found in the skin so by applying a topical CBD balm the antioxidants would be picked up by the Cannabinoid receptors to oxidise the free radicals.

CBD skincare, Massage Oil & Balm, cbd studios

There is research to suggest that by using CBD as a topical cream or balm it will help boost your body’s natural systems keep the skin in good health.

CBD Studios recovery balm is anti-inflammatory due to the CBD but the other ingredients have a soothing and therapeutic effect for skin care.

CBD is infused into coconut oil, and is blended with the most hydrating apricot oil and soothing plant extracts.

Coconut oil hydrates the skin and is rich in anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E and Vitamin A. Both are good at repairing and helping to maintain skin elasticity.

Shea butter gives the balm a lovely silky feel, which applied to the skin, softens and moisturizes. It also has anti-oxidants, which help nourish ageing skin and fatty acids, which heal skin irritations.

Candelilla wax vegan beeswax is nourishing and hydrating.

Apricot Oil added to the balm is moisturizing, calming and soothing for irritated skin.

Hemp-seed oil is rich in fatty acids, which help hydrate and soothe inflamed skin.

Camphor essential oil is used to relieve skin irritation and maintain skin health. It is also anti inflammatory, so helps to relieve pain and inflammation of muscles and joints.

Lavender essential oil helps your body to relax. It calms irritated skin and soothes irritated skin. It is anti-inflammatory which will ease muscular and joint discomfort.
