What is causing poor sleep is the first thing to decipher?

The famous Mayo Clinic USA, states that insomnia can be caused by:

Anxiety and depression
Medication, which can disturb your sleep-wake cycle
Physical conditions such as discomfort or aches
Caffeine, especially when consumed late in the day
Environmental factors, such as loud noises or an uncomfortable bed

If you can change one of these influences that would be one of the first things to address.

However, if your insomnia is caused by health issues, CBD may help by treating the causes of sleeplessness.

Studies show how CBD is very effective at helping to overcome anxiety. This is partly due to the interactions with the natural cannabinoids found in the body which regulate natural functions. One of these is the activation of serotonin receptors in the brain. When the body’s natural chemical balance is achieved by supplementing with CBD, natural functions like sleep are likely to be restored.

We suggest trying our hemp tea for longer uninterrupted sleep.

How does CBD tea make you feel

Our customer research is showing that our hemp tea helps keep you asleep for longer throughout the night. Hemp and CBD are combined with other relaxing herbs including camomile and mint. It is lovely to enjoy whilst winding down as well as help with a good nights sleep. When you drink the tea, it is absorbed slowly though the digestive system. The calming effects therefore take place slowly, lasting for longer encouraging an uninterrupted sleep.

How does CBD oil work?

CBD oil is quicker to be absorbed. It is taken as drops under your tongue so absorbed directly into the body. A great help if you need to calm down the mind and body to help ease into sleep.

Trials suggest that CBD might help if you want to try a natural way to improve your sleep. CBD may enable you to enjoy a better night’s sleep by helping your body to relax,

CBD pour la peau

CBD skin care: Alleviating ACNE, DRY SKIN AND AGEING WITH CBD PRODUCTS

CBD is a Cannabinoid found in hemp. It is a natural compound that is known for healing properties. CBD can relieve inflammation and have anti oxidant benefits. This means it can be beneficial for dry skin, spots and aging (free radical damage.)

Cannabinoids are produced naturally in the body and stimulate 2 receptors, CB1 and CB2. They are part of the Endocannabinoid system (ECS). The biological processes of the skin are affected by the ECS. It will be affecting processes like cell production, growth and death, hormone production and cell communication. This is responsible for homeostasis in the body.

If this homeostasis is disturbed and out of balance, it may result in various issues related to skin care and skin health.

Acne

Often a cause of acne is the over production of sebum. This is the oil that is released by the skin to keep hair moisturized and skin protected.

By activating CB2 receptors it would lead to the reduction and balance of sebum production.

When skin gets painful and red due to acne, CBD is able to soothe this dull ache or throbbing sensation. The cells in the skin contain CB1 and CB2 receptors; these receptors are stimulated by CBD and communicate with the nervous system to reduce the inflammation.

Dry skin

Dry skin is often a problem and can lead to dermatitis or itchiness. It can be caused by climate, heat, soaps, illness, accidents and allergy. In normal skin, sebum is produced to protect the skin and to prevent moisture loss. By stimulating CB2 receptors in the sebaceous glands you will increase sebum production if needed.

This is when using a topical CBD balm or ointment could help. When using CBD balm, the cannabinoid supplement works with the endocannabinoid system in the skin striving to create the correct balance.

Anti aging

The signs of ageing can be caused by exposure to toxins outside the body, such as chemical pollutants and UV rays. When cells are damaged by external factors, they become agitated and create free radicals. The affected cell will try to stabilize itself by taking an electron from another cell. This is called oxidation. This cellular stress and damage means that your skin is weakened. This can cause a loss of collagen and firmness, causing wrinkles and fine lines. If skin is exposed to external factors causing inflammation, free radical formation and oxidative stress will be evident. This will lead to these age-related issues/ appearances.

So there are anti-oxidants…. Antioxidants are found in our body and skin and their job is to find free radicals and neutralize them before they do any damage. CBD has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The ECS is found in the skin so by applying a topical CBD balm the antioxidants would be picked up by the Cannabinoid receptors to oxidise the free radicals.

There is research to suggest that by using CBD as a topical cream or balm it will help boost your body’s natural systems keep the skin in good health.

CBD Studios recovery balm is anti-inflammatory due to the CBD but the other ingredients have a soothing and therapeutic effect for skin care.

CBD is infused into coconut oil, and is blended with the most hydrating apricot oil and soothing plant extracts.

Coconut oil hydrates the skin and is rich in anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E and Vitamin A. Both are good at repairing and helping to maintain skin elasticity.

Shea butter gives the balm a lovely silky feel, which applied to the skin, softens and moisturizes. It also has anti-oxidants, which help nourish ageing skin and fatty acids, which heal skin irritations.

Candelilla wax vegan beeswax is nourishing and hydrating.

Apricot Oil added to the balm is moisturizing, calming and soothing for irritated skin.

Hemp-seed oil is rich in fatty acids, which help hydrate and soothe inflamed skin.

Camphor essential oil is used to relieve skin irritation and maintain skin health. It is also anti inflammatory, so helps to relieve pain and inflammation of muscles and joints.

Lavender essential oil helps your body to relax. It calms irritated skin and soothes irritated skin. It is anti-inflammatory which will ease muscular and joint discomfort.

Baume de CBD pour massage

So we have found with regular use of both the CBD recovery , the skin softens, strengthens and looks and feels fresher.

Natural is the way forward, we no longer want to be using chemicals in our skin care routine let alone on our faces.

CBD Studios products are legal for sale in the UK and France due to having undetectable (<0.2%) levels THC

How do I take CBD oil?
CBD is available in 10ml bottles, which have a dropper as part the lid. You put the dropper under your tongue and squeeze out the drops.

Where do CBD Studios deliver?
We will post worldwide unless there are stipulations against it.

Do you offer next day delivery?
Yes to France.
Worldwide, please allow 3-7 working days.

How much CBD oil do I take?
We recommend taking 2 drops to start with. It does depend on individual circumstances but this will give you an idea of how it will make you feel. If after a few days or weeks you can increase the dose if you feel it is not enough.

Will I feel drowsy?
CBD should not make you feel drowsy. In fact it should make you feel energised. However as everyone reacts in different ways, try it first when you know you do not have to drive or operate machinery and see how your body responds.

Can I put CBD oil in my coffee or hot drink?
We would always say yes, but let the drink cool a little before adding it.

What is THC?
THC is found in marijuana and it is the substance that gives the mind altering high. Hemp is the plant that CBD oil is extracted from. It contains none or trace amounts of THC so will not have any psychoactive effects.

Can CBD make you paranoid or high?
No, THC is the compound that can cause this feeling. There is none or under 0.2% THC in Hemp strains that are used to make CBD oil.

How long does CBD take to work?
It totally depends on the user, the reason for taking it and the way it is administered. We find that for anxiety and sleep it works upon starting to use the oil. For muscle and injury relief it may take longer for the cannabinoids to build up in the system.

How do I order?
We have a good website with a shop to take orders. Feel free to call or message for any advice or to order if that is easier.

What is the maximum CBD dose I can take?
The Cannabis Trades Association and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency state that 200mg is the maximum dose of CBD that is recommended for consumption in a day.

Is the bottle recyclable?
The glass bottle and pipette is. The plastic is not.

Where should I store my CBD?
There is no need to put it in the fridge. But out of direct sunlight is advised.

Do I take it with food?
It is entirely up to you. However CBD oil is an oil so fat soluble. There have been studies to say it may be absorbed quicker with food.

Will CBD help arthritis and other aches?
CBD has well known and emerging reports and studies to verify its anti-inflammatory properties.

Will I fail a drugs test by using CBD?
THC is the substance that will be tested for and it is only found in trace amounts in CBD oil. However if used for long periods of time there is a chance it may be stored over time in fat cells. It is highly highly unlikely and it would be more likely from contamination from a low quality oil or second hand smoke.
If you are in a role with potential testing, we would recommend sensible consideration if you are taking very large amounts of CBD.
If you are taking a normal dose 2/6 drop each day, the risk of it showing up in a driving swap is very unlikely.
Cyclists who are prone to testing, the oil can be taken for short periods of time with regular breaks. This means that the levels are unable to build up sufficiently, but there is no guarantee.

Will CBD react with other medication?
All CBD Studios products are sold as food supplements only. We are unable to offer medical advice and suggest that you speak to a medical professional for further advice.

Can I overdose on CBD?
There have been no reports of overdose. It has no interactions with the respiratory pathways We recommend starting with a low dose until you find the dosage that your body is comfortable at.

CBD Studios products are not designed or sold as medicines. CBD Studios do not claim to diagnose, cure or treat conditions/ diseases.

L’absorption de CBD avec d’aliments

Huile de CBD, CBD Studios

Having worked as a Personal trainer with an interest in nutrition I have been looking into research regarding CBD and food. Several different medical associations have carried out studies to see how CBD is absorbed in the body when ingested with food.

It was a small study but with very clear results.  Half the volunteers took the CBD on an empty stomach and had breakfast 4 hours later. The other half of the volunteers had breakfast first and took their CBD 20 minutes after. After 2 weeks the subjects swapped the method.

Blood was taken form the volunteers though out the duration and the results show a huge difference between CBD taken with food and CBD taken without. The CBD taken with breakfast showed the increase to be 14 x higher than if taken without food. The absorption of CBD showed to quadruple when ingested with the morning meal.

Noted also was the type of food can make a large difference in the amount of CBD that gets absorbed into the body. The test was carried out with a fat in the breakfast, this could be yogurt milk, bread, cereal etc.

Other Compounds Found in Hemp & THE ENTOURAGE EFFECT

One of the appealing things about CBD is the variety of aromas and flavours that the different strains give off. These are the result of terpenes – molecules found in herbs, trees and fruit that give essential oils their distinctive aromas. There are thought to be over 200 various terpenes in the cannabis plant, different concentrations making each strain unique.

The flavour of the terpenes and the benefits of the other cannabinoids are maximised by whole-flower vaporisation. In addition to their aromas, terpenes have direct interactions with our bodies.

These are some of the terpenes found in CBD and the effects they produce:

  • Pinene (pine): Pinene is the most common terpene in the world and has anti-inflammatory properties. It produces the fresh cleansing scent found in orange peel, pine needles, basil, and parsley. It’s been known improve airflow to your lungs and promote alertness.
  • Myrcene (earthy, musky, fruity): Myrcene can be found in mangoes, hops, thyme, lemongrass, and basil, and is the most commonly found terpene in cannabis. It can compose up to 50 percent of a cannabis plant’s terpenes. Myrcene has been shown to be useful as an anti-inflammatory, a sedative, and a muscle relaxer. Many indica strains have high levels of myrcene, which contribute to the tired/stoned feeling (if higher than 0.5% myrcene in a strain, it creates the “couch-lock” feeling in users).
  • Limonene (citrus): Like its name suggests, limonene smells like lemons, oranges, mandarins, limes, and grapefruits. Its invigorating fragrance has been shown to elevate mood and relieve stress. It’s also, interestingly enough, probably found in your favourite cleaning products or perfumes not only because of its citrusy aroma, but also due to its anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. Limonene also improves absorption of other terpenes and chemicals through the skin, which makes it great in strains that you use for tinctures, ointments, and other topicals.
  • Humulene (hoppy, earthy): Humulene is found in hops, coriander, cloves, and basil. It’s best known for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to suppress appetite (while many other strains only increase appetite).
  • Linalool (floral, spicy): Linalool is found in fragrant flowers and spices like lavender and coriander, and is widely known for its stress-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and anti-depressant effects. The linalool terpene balances out the jittery side effects of THC, making it an effective treatment for both anxiety and psychosis. Some studies also suggest that linalool can boost the immune system and significantly reduce lung inflammation.
  • Caryophyllene (peppery, spicy): Caryophyllene is found in Thai basil, cloves, cinnamon leaves and black pepper. Studies show that it can help treat anxiety, depression, and act as an anti-inflammatory, which sounds like a big job to handle for one small terpene.
  • Terpinolene (smoky, woodsy): Terpinolene can be found in sage and rosemary, and has slightly sedative, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties. It’s also been found to depress your central nervous system, and therefore induce drowsiness and reduce excitement or anxiety.

Evidence suggests that whole-plant hemp is far more beneficial than isolated compounds from the plant. As it is with many beneficial plants, fruits, and vegetables, we consume many, many elements at one time. The combinations make up and provide the nutritional benefits we need. The entourage effect is somewhat similar to this concept of “whole plant medicine”, the idea being that you are working with several components at once.

So, when we speak about the CBD entourage effect, we’re talking about the interaction between many different compounds within the cannabis plant. Since the hemp plant has more than 500 different compounds, there’s a lot to choose from.

Especially interesting are flavonoids, a phytonutrient (natural chemical), that creates the colour in plants,

The Linus Pauling Institute has noted that flavonoids may exhibit anti-inflammatory and immune system-boosting properties.

Flavonoids have powerful antioxidant properties preventing damage our skin cell, causing illness and ageing. they are present in many well-known “super foods” such as green tea, apples, and blueberries. Flavonoids also possess anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties, and some reports have indicated that they can increase antibody production, thus helping strengthen the immune system.

Other Vitamin found in hemp plants include Vitamin A, C, E and B complex vitamins (niacin, riboflavin, and thiamine) and beta-carotene are also found in full spectrum CBD oil.  Zinc, potassium, iron, calcium and phosphorus are minerals found. 20 amino acids, Omega 3 and omega 6 are also found.

It is important to understand that the cannabinoids in CBD oil are still under a lot of scrutiny and a lot more research has to be done until there is proof that they actually cure illnesses. However evidence is accumulating that benefits of using CBD include, relaxation, improving sleep quality, and anti-inflammation providing relief from muscle discomfort. The concern over addiction to prescription painkillers brings people to feel that CBD oil is a much safer alternative.

CBD Studios do not offer or claim to have any medical cures or treat any illness.
